Quick Pinochle Scoring Overview
While house rules vary, common US scoring includes:
Meld (examples):
- Run (A-10-K-Q-J of trump): 150
- Royal marriage (K-Q of trump): 40
- Common marriage: 20
- Aces around: 100
- Kings around: 80
- Queens around: 60
- Jacks around: 40
- Pinochle (Jack of diamonds + Queen of spades): 40 (double often 300)
Tricks:
- Aces, tens, and kings are typically the counters (often 10 points each, or scaled differently by variant).
- Last trick often adds a bonus (commonly 10 points).
- Total trick points per hand are usually 240–250 depending on the exact system.
The bidding side must meet or exceed their bid with combined meld + trick points or go set. Games are often played to 150, 500, or 1,000 points. For detailed standard rules and variations, consult a reliable reference such as Pagat’s Single Deck Partnership Pinochle rules.
